My 2019 New Year’s Goals

It’s been almost a week since we went from 2018 to 2019…and honestly, the week has been a bit of a whirlwind for me! I’m in the midst of trying to develop a new schedule, but being off for several days definitely threw a wrench into things. But I’m determined to finalize and then pull off said schedule by Sunday. That’s not to say that this past week was a write-off; but committing to any new changes was either not going to happen, or going to happen mildly.

That very much includes all of the yearly goals I’ve set for myself in 2019. Most would call them resolutions, but I’d rather to call them goals. There’s no deep or philosophical reason for this; I just prefer the term goals more. Anyways, like a lot of people, I’ve set a lot of yearly goals that I hope to achieve by the end of 2019. I figured that it’s better late than never to share them!

Here’s my list of 2019 New Year’s Goals that I want to achieve:

1. Lose weight.

This will no doubt be the hardest goal of the year. But it’s the one I’m most eager to tackle, so here goes nothing.

2. Develop a full-on freelance side business.

I’ve been freelancing on the side of full-time work since June, but now I want to make it a side business to supplement my income. In other words…bring on the money!

3. Buy a new car.

I have an older car that runs pretty well, but my job has me commuting quite a ways away. It’s time to buy my first new car- a daunting task for sure, but an exciting one, too.

4. Write & edit Lexi’s Love & War.

I finished my first Wattpad story, Lexi’s In A New City, early last year after spending lots of time writing it. I put the sequel, Lexi’s Love & War, on the back burner during my last semester of college. Now that that’s over, I want to finish the first draft, as well as edit and revise until it’s perfect!

5. Become more independent.

To be honest, I already consider myself to be pretty independent to begin with. But with multiple jobs and more obligations coming my way, it’s time to buckle down and take things more seriously.

6. Socialize with friends more.

The one drawback of being as big a workaholic as myself is that I tend to become quite the recluse- even though I do want to hang out with friends. This year, I want to push myself to become more social because I really enjoy it, and it reminds me to relax.

7. Enjoy my birthday!

This is the one goal that repeats year after year. I always go out of my way to celebrate my birthday because it’s fun, and you only get one birthday a year. I’m hoping for a couple days of fun, laughter, and (hopefully) cake!

8. Create all kinds of content- both writing and otherwise.

I may be a writer, but that doesn’t mean that that’s the only content I want to produce. I’m also interested in making both photo and video content for myself, and even new or existing clients.

9. Learn something new.

There are so many things that I want to learn- French, using Photoshop, video editing… the list is endless, really. Rather than put so much pressure on myself to learn everything, I’m going to insist that I learn one thing at least.

10. Take care of every aspect of my life.

Mental health and physical health both need to be taken care of consistently. I’m planning on addressing both however necessary- self-care, journalling, meditating, you name it. There’s no such thing as too much, in my opinion.

Please remember that there’s no pressure for you to choose any of these goals for yourself. But you’re more than welcome to if you wish. Let me know if you did just that, or tell me what your goals are for 2019! I’d love to know.

xo,

Elizabeth
