With January coming to a close, I thought it’d be interesting to start something new: a monthly recap.
But the last thing I want to do is discuss everything I did during the month. While I’m sure some of you would find that interesting, I wanted to go a different route. Instead, I’ve decided that every month, I’m going to point out and discuss three things that I liked, and three things that I disliked during the month in question.
So, without further ado, here are three things I liked, and three things that I didn’t like during the month of January!
Ins
1. You
There are two genres I like in particular: horror, and true crime. When You certainly doesn’t fall under the latter category, the criminal elements that are there make this show so addicting! I’m currently on episode seven, so I only have three more to go before I can call season one finished. It’s suspenseful and chilling- which is why I cannot wait to finish it before the month ends!
2. Sugar-free coffee
It’s taken longer than I wish, but I did it! On January 1st of this year, I decided to cut sweetener out of my coffee for good. It wasn’t easy at first, but I managed to stick with it without going back to my old ways. I’ve also cut my use of almond milk in regular coffee, but not in espresso. Will I be able to consume straight espresso? We’ll just have to see.
3. Whole30
Since January 2nd, I’ve been participating in Whole30. I had two goals in mind when I decided to do this: a) Try new foods and meals, and b) See if eliminating certain food would aide me in losing weight. It’s been a fun challenge to undertake, which is why it’s In. Although I’m not going to lie- I’ll be super happy once it’s all over. I really miss bread…and chocolate…and rice…you get the picture.
Outs
1. Winter
As someone who’s lived in Canada my entire life, you’d think I’d be used to the cold weather that comes with winter. Yet every time this season rolls around, I’m left frozen and miserable, all while wishing for spring to just come already. Needless to say, I’ve had enough of winter this year.
2. Worrying
I’m a worrier, which doesn’t surprise me- it practically runs in my family. I worry about work, socializing with friends enough, getting chores done…and that’s just the tip of the iceberg! But this month, I’ve come to realize just how emotionally draining doing this is. So I’ve decided that, with a new month coming up, it’s finally time to quit the unnecessary worrying.
3. Dairy
Even before I started Whole30, I had already been trying to limit the amount of dairy that I’d been consuming. But doing Whole30 forced me to cut dairy out of my diet for almost an entire month. Now, I can honestly say that I don’t miss it. Once February begins, I’m going to continue going dairy-free for good. Between vegan cheeses and almond milk, I have a feeling that being dairy-free won’t be that hard.
***
That pretty much sums up my January Recap! I’m hoping to make this a thing for the end of every month because I like how I have to think about what I liked and disliked during that time.
I hope you enjoyed, too. Let me know what you liked and/or disliked during January!

Elizabeth
