April Recap: Ins & Outs

I don’t know about you, but April was one month that just seemed to fly by! Between work, personal stuff, and Easter, it’s been more than a whirlwind- especially the last few weeks.

I’m not gonna lie- it’s been a rollercoaster of a month for me, personally speaking. I’ve experienced more than my share of successes and setbacks. I wish I could be optimistic and say that with a new month comes the chance for things to be easier. But since I’m a self-confessed realist, all I say is that I hope that things will get easier in May.

Anyways, enough of that non-sense: it’s time to get into the April Recap!

Ins:

1. Learning French

It’s taken some time, but I’ve managed to consistently take online French lessons for most of April! Depending on how much time I have to spare, it can take anywhere from five to 10 minutes. It’s simple, quick, and is actually more fun than you may think! The fact that it’s helping me check off my lifelong goal of become bilingual is even better.

2. Planning sh*t out

Some of you may not have picked up on this, but I’m a planner. I can’t be spontaneous when it comes to planning out my work day, what kind of workout days I’m gonna have…you name it! I use many different methods to plan stuff- and depending on the format, there may be some crossover for what’s inside from one planning method to another. Such methods include a 12-month planner, bullet journal, dry erase calendar, multiple notebooks, To Do lists (and other kinds of lists), time batching…I’m sure I’m missing a few. Who know- maybe I’ll continue to experiment with other planning methods!

3. Face masks

Using a face mask can’t fix a lot of your problems…but I suppose that it’s a start. I’ve been using the OLEHENRIKSEN Cold Plunge Pore Mask for the most part, but have recently been trying out the Youth To The People Superfood Face Mask due to its more natural ingredients list. Regardless, it’s nice to throw on a face mask every Sunday night to help make my skin feel better before another gruelling week of work.

Outs:

1. Maca

Let me preface this by saying that I don’t think maca’s necessarily a bad supplement. If you use it and have found success, that’s great! But for me personally, I haven’t noticed much of a difference- both positive or otherwise. I finished a bottle of Maca pills a week or so ago, and I have no regrets.

2. NHL

Between the Pittsburgh Penguins and now the Toronto Maple Leafs being out of the Stanley Cup picture, I’m officially done with hockey for the season. Now I can’t WAIT for the NFL pre-season to finally roll around.

3. Being a hermit

I don’t socialize much at all. I usually chalk it up to being a writer, who you could argue are the hermits of the creative community. But after some recent interactions where I had a lot of fun, I think I’m gonna try and meet up with more people. Whether it’s high school or college friends, or a group of total strangers, I’m vowing to put myself out there in the hope of making a new friend or two.

***

Will May be a better month for me? Honestly, who knows. I’m just hoping for the best at this point.

Hope you had a good April, and that May brings you even better things!

xo,

Elizabeth
