With 2020 here and 2019 being a thing of the past, it’s time for me to look back and reflect on what I learned last year.
2019 was a rough year- I haven’t made that a secret, that’s for sure. But I’m proud of how I handled everything and how I somehow managed to pull through in order to make it fairly enjoyable. Through it all, I learned a ton about myself and life itself. That’s why I really want to share everything I learned last year because it was all so very important, albeit in various ways.
Without any further ado, here are the 19 things that I learned throughout 2019.
-
Everyone processes grief differently.
-
Time doesn’t heal all wounds (though it may heal some).
-
Working for yourself is so much fun.
-
Working for yourself is also beyond scary as hell.
-
Going it alone is sometimes necessary.
-
You don’t need to be in a relationship in order to be happy.
-
Some family members aren’t worth being close to.
-
Making big changes require a ton of planning.
-
Self-care isn’t selfish; sometimes it’s necessary.
-
Reading can be a fantastic escape.
-
Write every single day.
-
Crying is sometimes necessary.
-
Spend more time with friends.
-
Stop living for others and live for yourself first.
-
Personal happiness is extremely important.
-
It’s okay to have anxiety.
-
Give yoga & meditation a try.
-
Working out is so good in more ways than one.
-
Be proud of your achievements- even when others aren’t.

There you have it- all 19 things I learned throughout 2019. I laughed, I cried and I smiled off and on. Throughout it all, I managed to pull through relatively unscathed- and that’s what matters at the end of the day. Here’s hoping that 2020 will be better in each and every way possible!
