While I’m not partaking in making it (yet), video content is still super important. In fact, I’d go so far as to say that when it comes to content, it’s king. It’s consumed by people so much and so fast- and it’s being produced by people at about the same rate. While video content has been produced for many years now, it’s been booming more so in the last couple of years.
If you think your business doesn’t need video content to do well, you’d be wrong to think that. In 2020, video content is way more important now than ever before. Need convincing? Here are just three reasons to explain why video content is king- and will certainly be for years, if not decades to come.
1. Video content increases traffic & engagement
It’s proven that video content has a higher retention rate by viewers. This doesn’t go unnoticed by search engines either. As a matter of fact, they’ll recognize your content (as well as the site it’s on- be it YouTube or on your website), thus improving your search engine ranking. Plus, there are more opportunities for engagement with viewers because it’s most likely to attract viewers.
2. Video content can be repurposed
A single video isn’t a single-use thing. You can do many different things with it! Depending on what it’s about, it can be used for promotion, show behind-the-scene action, and/or for an ad. Those are just some ideas that allow you to repurpose video content. It’s more valuable than you may think in terms of usefulness.
3. Videos help explain more
For a business, video creates an opportunity to showcase your goods and/or services in a way that’s easy to understand. While written content can explain it in the same way, doing so in the form of a video shows it. Writing it out tells people what you do; a video shows them what you do. It truly brings it to life, and can even make it easier for viewers to remember at a later time.

There’s virtually no reason for a business to not utilize video in 2020. Yes, it’s time-consuming. Yes, it can cost a fair enough of money. But the long-term impact and results make that well worth it. Your business will surely benefit from showing it off in videos. So, pick up that camera and get to shooting that content!
