A Work Day in a Life

A few people have recently asked me what a typical workday looks like for me. I decided to take you through a workday that I usually experience. This is an example of a Monday, which is far more structured than when I work on the weekend.

So without further ado, here’s that example of a workday in a life for me!

***

4-4:30 AM: Wake up

Yes, I wake up this early in the morning. You’ll see why in a moment.

5:15 AM: OrangeTheory Fitness (OTF)

This is when I attend my OTF class during the week (assuming I don’t sleep in and miss it by accident). It’s the best time that works for me because it’s first thing in the morning and doesn’t get in the way of my workday. This takes about an hour to do, and I enjoy it!

6:15-7AM: Coffee & Shower

After my workout class, I go to Starbucks and grab my order (Extra hot Americano Misto made with blonde espresso and almond milk). Then I’ll drive home and get a hot shower to freshen up after such a sweaty workout. During this time, I’ll complete my hair routine and skincare routine, too.

7-7:30 AM: Yoga & Meditation

After that, I’ll unroll my yoga mat to get some yoga in. It’s not a formal routine whatsoever; rather, it’s just me stretching out more after my workout. When I’m done with that, I’ll use Headspace to complete my meditation for the day. I’ve managed to get back into both yoga and meditation more recently, and I’m so glad I did.

7:30-8:30 AM: Finish the Rest of My Morning Routine

Depending on what I’m doing that day, I may or may not put on makeup. If I know I’m not going anywhere that day, I’ll skip makeup altogether. Otherwise, I’ll put on a full-face of makeup. Regardless, I’ll also use this time to eat some breakfast and ensure that my To-Do List is ready for today. This also includes booting up my computer.

8:30-9 AM: Take Care of Emails

The first thing I do is delete any emails in my Inbox, as well as go through my Junk folder to not miss anything I should look at. Once that’s done, I’ll email anyone I need to get in touch with. This could include people I’m looking to interview for a client, clients themselves, and more.

9-10 AM: Write & Post Blog

I always have my blogs planned out for the month so that I already know what I’m writing ahead of time. This is ideally when I like to write and post my blogs because it’s fairly early in the morning. Between any research needed, creating a feature image, writing and the scheduling said blog, it takes about an hour to do all of this.

10-11 AM: Complete Social Media Work

During this hour, I begin working for one of my clients. I won’t give away too much for privacy reasons, but my job here includes creating and scheduling social media content for various platforms. It may not sound like much, but the sheer amount of posts I’m asked to schedule takes me an entire hour to complete.

11 AM-12 PM: Lunch/Break

Sometime during this hour, I’ll go and make lunch. This is also when I break and do whatever to take my mind off things. There’s not much else to it.

12-3 PM: Writing

The afternoon is where a lot of my work gets done. The first part of it consists of writing news articles, features or interviews for various clients. Depending on what I’m writing and how much I’m writing, it usually takes three hours at most to complete.

3-5 PM: Complete More Social Media Work

If I’m able to complete my writing by three o’clock, I’ll complete my last task of the day- scheduling more social media content for another client. Otherwise, I’ll complete this task after dinner. Again, this isn’t hard- it’s just time-consuming, which is fine. It takes a couple of hours to complete, so long as technology is on my side.

5-5:30 PM: Dinner

By this point, dinner is ready, so I’ll break to enjoy it.

5:30-8:30 PM: Work & Relaxation

As mentioned above- if I need to get more work done, I’ll do it until it’s complete. If I’m lucky and don’t have any more work to do, I’ll write my To-Do List for tomorrow and put my workout clothes and skincare products out for the next day. After that, I’ll finally unwind for the evening. This consists of either watching YouTube, listening to music, playing video games and/or reading. Whatever I feel like doing, I’ll do it.

8:30-10 PM: Night Time Routine & Bed

It’s usually at this point when I decide to call it a night. I’ll complete my night skincare routine, brush my teeth, and then head off to bed. The earlier the better, but what can you do?

***

That’s pretty much it! Sometimes I work longer hours; other days I work less. It depends on how I’m feeling and what all needs to be done.

What does a typical workday look like for you?

xo,

Elizabeth
