How I Destress After a Long Day

We’ve all had long days. It could be due to work, school, family commitments, other stuff, or a combination of all of the above. It can take a toll on your mental health and how you feel overall. Dealing with a lot of stress is a lot to deal with and can make you feel terrible.

For me, it’s important to destress after a long day. It makes me feel better and more relaxed, which is necessary in order to better my mental health. Here are some of the ways that I destress after a long day.

1. Take extra care of my hair and skin

My favourite kind of self-care has to do with hair care and skin care. I love practicing self-care and I always go out of my way to do it as much as I can. You can learn how I practice a day of self-care in a previous blog, in case you’re curious. Giving my hair and skin some extra TLC helps me destress after a long day, and it makes me feel better overall.

2. Listen to music or a podcast

I love listening to music, and I also love listening to podcasts. So when I want to destress after a long day, I’ll listen to one or the other. It depends on my mood, really. If I want to unwind, I’ll listen to some music. If I want to learn something, I’ll listen to podcasts. Regardless of which one I choose, listening to music or a podcast or two is one of my favourite ways to destress after a long day. It helps clear my mind and allow me to focus on something different for a change.

3. Play video games!

This is a super nerdy thing to admit, but I really don’t care. When I want to destress after a long day, I simply play whatever video game I’m in the mood to play. For me, it provides the perfect distraction and gives me an escape. It may seem like a waste of time to some people, but it’s something that I really enjoy. Plus, it helps me destress after a long day.
