My Top 5 Self-Care Methods

I’m a huge fan of self-care. I’ve written about it on my blog multiple times before because it’s such an important thing for people to do. Self-care is necessary to maintain and improve both your physical and mental health. It’s always crucial to take some time out of your busy life to partake in whatever self-care fits your needs.

Of course, everyone is different when it comes to what their definition of self-care is. Everyone has a method to their madness- and that’s totally cool. With that being said, I decided today to share my top five favourite self-care methods. I’m doing this to give you some ideas of self-care, but to also inspire you to do it if you haven’t done so recently.

Without any further ado, here are my top five favourite self-care methods:

1. Getting extra with my skincare

I have an extensive skincare routine that I do both morning and night. But when I find myself needing a little self-care, I’ll get a little extra with it. I’m talking about using a peel/exfoliant, a face mask, and/or eye masks. It depends on what I’m in the mood for, as well as what I think my skin needs most at that moment. But adding a few more steps to my regular skincare routine always makes me feel better.

2. Organize my life (or at least as much as possible)

While I like to consider myself to be an organized person, even I have my moments where I slip. I always find moments where I need to get my sh*t together. That means organizing my life however necessary. This could mean planning out the following week in my planner, sorting through important paperwork, cleaning my office space, and so much more. Depending on where I’m lacking in organization at the moment, this is one form of self-care that always makes me feel better afterwards!

3. Listening to my favourite music and/podcasts

I’m a huge music lover, so this is a form of self-care I especially love. But I also really enjoy listening to podcasts too. So when I’m looking for some super easy self-care, I’ll either listen to some music or a podcast. It depends on what I’m in the mood for. But both options never fail to cheer me up.

4. Get some extra sleep

I have a really bad habit of staying up far later than I should, even when I know I have to get up early the next day. It can really mess with my sleep schedule, to say the least. That’s why I don’t hesitate to catch up on my sleep whenever I’m able to. It could mean napping in the afternoon or sleeping in on the weekend. Either way, this form of self-care helps me feel refreshed and ready to take on whatever’s next.

5. Journaling

Being a natural writer, I find journaling to benefit me a ton. I like to use The Five Minute Journal, as well as journaling freely in another regular notebook. Both methods allow me to express myself and clear my mind of anything that’s troubling me. I highly recommend it to anyone who’s looking to try a new self-care method.
